There is a lot of confusion out there about who we are and what we do. First, we are a separate and independent organization. We are not affiliated with Grande Ronde Hospital or any other group. Although it is our desire to work with other entities and groups to make sure we can provide the very best access to medical and dental care for everyone in Union, Cove and North Powder without duplication.
We are governed by a 7-member board of directors who set policy and oversee the finances of the district. Our operations, including the dental clinic, are managed by our District Manager, Adina Ferguson. Our Dentist, Dr. AJ Donick, manages the dental services and supervises the staff.
Our vision is to bring basic dental care and other service to everyone regardless of who they are or their ability to pay. Our staff members are committed to providing a high level of compassionate care for everyone who comes to our clinic. As we work on this vision we are always open to consider other unmet needs within our community.
We are also working on identifying and researching possible medical services that we can offer to the community that will help compliment what Grande Ronde Hospital is bringing to our area through the Union medical clinic.
Do you have ideas and suggestions? Contact us at southcountyhd@outlook.com or join us at our regular board meetings on the last Tuesday of each month. We are always happy to work with the community that supports us.
What is a Health District? It’s a government entity created by the voters for the purpose of bringing health care resources, like clinics and health care providers to rural area where there is a shortage of medical and dental providers to care for people in the district. Unlike other districts in Eastern Oregon SCHD does not have a tax base at this time, but operates solely on its income from dental fees. We use grants and donations to help us provide services to those who otherwise are not able to qualify for assistance programs or to pay for services.
Our District Manager, Adina Ferguson, manages the day to day business of the clinic and manages the district.
